Outline

*I chose to use abstract paintings for my backgrounds.  I wanted to use these to create abstract landscapes that change from a more mechanical look to a more organic look depending on whether the person or their shadow is in control.  I plan on drawing in the person and the shadow digitally, to create a contrast between the being and his or her surroundings.

*I want to communicate the importance of embracing the shadow through the piece.  I want to show that if one keeps their darker more instinctive side suppressed for too long, it will keep building momentum until it eventually surfaces on  its own.  Their are consequences the person will have to pay after the shadow goes out to play.

1.  The person is comfortable in an ordered mechanical world, while the shadow likes a more chaotic world.  The person is trying to keep the shadow at bay, while the shadow struggles to gain control.

2.  Eventually, the shadow  is suppressed too long and surfaces on its own.  Things begin to get chaotic and fall apart.  At the end, the person must deal with the mess left by the shadow.

3.  Person- likes things to be under control, constantly keeps the shadow internalized.

Shadow- is more instinctive, likes chaos, and indulgences.  Grows stronger the longer it is internalized.
